1-6-08             Comments

I received the very kind comment below for insertion on the site from Leigh Wilbraham of Jazzhooves.   Although I am not usually one for "Trumpet Blowing" (I have trouble enough playing the organ) it is good sometimes to be able to put an encouraging comment on the site.

However all your comments are welcome here. If you think the site needs improving in some way, something you would like to see added, something you don't agree with then lets hear from you, I will put your points up for discussion on this page

Dear Ken,                                  1-6-08

I would like to congratulate you on producing a great website for Wersi owners.

There are many websites catering for Wersi instruments and i have to say what a great job you have done. UK focus is perfect for the UK owner and this is why we are thrilled that you will be attending our Wersi Owners Weekend in October.
The fact that you offer tips and details of concerts featuring Wersi players makes your site unique and enjoyable to read - keep up the great work.

Everyone at Jazzhooves.com wishes you the very best and we send our best wishes to all Wersi enthusiasts.

Leigh

13-4-08  Comment From John Mitchell

Ken,
I have just followed the links from Wersi international site and  found your new UK based site.
Can i wish you all the  very  best of luck with this, Sites like these are a lifeline to WERSI owners.
I have just managed to restore a DX400 but this was only possible because i was able to contact other owners and service specialists by using the forums of wersi sites to glean information from. And also because i was able to contact WERSI specialists both here and in America to ask questions of.
I feel i should add that every single question I have addressed to people  has been answered, showing just what a nice bunch of people WERSI owners are :)
I am also seriously endebted to Paul Miller who i see you list  on your pages as tech help. Pauls help  has been nothing short of magnificent.
On that note i now have a number of data tapes that are  suitable for DX400/500 and if  any oher people need them to  re program their organs i would  gladly make copies for them.  I cannot see WERSI objecting to this as they no longer sell the original files and so i wont be depriving  them of  sales.

Regards
John Mitchell

I have received this comment from Club member Nigel Scriven in response to an article I placed on our international site "Ideas For WersiClub"  My thanks to Nigel for his contribution. If other members would like to add their views and ideas please send an e.mail

Ken

Following your article on the Wersi Club International site, I think it would be a superb idea for owners to meet with each other on a regional basis; since, whilst I feel that I am quite confident with the instrument, I am sure there is more I should know and also, something that I could share with others. For instance, I am running on Version 6 and, despite the information on websites, I am not really sure what extra that you get with Version 7 (and practical things like do you loose all your individual settings and presets when installing new versions) all of which could be discussed informally with like minded owners.

It would be interesting for Wersi owners to produce some ideas on how this idea can proceed

11-6-08     Internet!!  Whats That??

It has possibly been a slightly misguided but understandable misconception, that if you own an OAS instrument you must automatically, because of the very nature of the instrument (computer operating system), be internet connected.

People buying these Instruments at this time may well do so for the potential of using it in connection with the internet.  But in the early days of OAS I am sure we were buying them because they were a musical instrument, not a computer.

Since this site has been running the fact that there are non internet OAS and pre OAS owners out there has become more apparent and these folks need to be contacted so that they can be given the chance to join WersiClub  so we can help keep them up-to-date.

We now have our very first non internet OAS owner as a member who is only too pleased that, for the cost of a few postage stamps, we can provide monthly news and information from the site.

There is no fee to become a Member of WersiClub as all the information on the websites is freely available, all we ask is that you register your details with us.

However to cater for our non internet owners a small amount of postage stamps would be required from the member to cover postage and stationery costs etc.

If you should know of a UK Wersi owner that is not internet connected, can I please ask if you would pass them my telephone number so that initial contact can be made,

as for some strange reason, we can't send an e.mail!!

Points to consider before and after   upgrades & repairs to the OAS system     14-4-08

In the light of recent mails received regarding what should or should not happen when their instruments are upgraded, in particular upgrading from V6 to V7, I have asked Club member Bill Gray, who is well known to us all for his expertise in computers and OAS, if he would kindly produce an article for us outlining the main points we should be aware of before upgrading takes place.

Bill has done us proud here giving us a very detailed but easy to understand overview of procedure plus many other points to look for. All of which will help to reassure us when embarking on a major upgrade that all will be ok and that the upgrade we receive  is the upgrade we  expected.

In the article Bill does advise us to keep all the system, upgrade and any additional programme discs you may have purchased, and their respective activation codes, in a safe place in case anything unforeseen should happen. Receipts for upgrades, sound packages etc. should also be kept as proof of purchase in case needed.

Once again my thanks to Bill for providing this information for us.

You will find the article on the OAS Page

5-4-08        Thanks To Members

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members that kindly replied to my initial e.mail, introducing yourselves and sending your best wishes for the site and the Club, and also to welcome our three new members, George, Paul & Peter.

Boring to say but also very true, ultimately the success of any Club depends on the enthusiasm of its members, so please do continue to participate in any way you can so that, with a little help from "WersiClub", we can all enhance our enjoyment and further our knowledge of our Wersi instruments.

Also my thanks to all who  sent in your song titles  for "Bretts Preset Offer" The list has now been sent to the "old chap" (he's nearly 30 now you know, how old is that!!) so we will now wait and see what the master comes up with for us.

When they are ready I will put a notice on the home page with details of how to obtain them.

Changes of e.mail addresses

We have a few members that we have regrettably lost contact with. If any member viewing has changed their e.mail address since first contacting Colin last April, could you please let us have your new address so we can continue to keep you up to date.

Many thanks

Ken
